We’ve brought plants into ballrooms many times. This time, we wanted to bring our guests to the plants.

When we found Gardenasia, a 70-metre-long garden path tucked into Nyee Phoe’s tropical grounds, we knew we didn’t want to impose a wedding onto it. We wanted to let the space breathe. Allowing nature to set the tone.

This would be Gardenasia’s first-ever wedding. And for us, it became the perfect canvas to fully express what Echevaria.co stands for, more than just florals, but sustainable spatial design.

We approached the experience as venue stylists from day one. We planned not only the botanical styling, but also the lighting, flow, and entire guest experience.

The garden’s long, narrow footprint was embraced, not masked. We used parallel rows of long tables to highlight its form rather than disrupt it. That simple spatial decision changed how people moved, gathered, and experienced the celebration. It allowed for a rhythm and pacing that felt true to the venue, rather than the venue being forced to match the event.

Above, we strung hanging potted ferns in layers, blending seamlessly with the garden’s natural lighting and our hand-made pendant lights. On the ground, guests were guided by lush, sculptural greens made almost entirely from potted plants. This wasn’t just about aesthetics. It was about permanence.

Our custom botanical backdrop became the sculptural centrepiece of the day. It was built from 90% potted greenery, a low-waste, fully replantable structure that not only honored the space, but gave it a new architectural layer. It stood quietly and confidently, as a focal point that felt like it had always belonged there. A true living botanical masterpiece we were proud to have built to be part of our wedding.

For the tablescapes, we collaborated with BRAMBE and TUF Stone to design eco-friendly vessels made from jesmonite, coffee waste, and marble offcuts. We used potted plants instead of cut florals, allowing guests to take them home as living keepsakes.

Even the pendant lights above were handmade in-house, using scrap material from my own wedding dress. That dress, custom-made by SUBROSA, was crafted from reused textiles and pearl beads sourced through CLOOP.

Every material had a story. Every detail, a second life.

This wedding also marked the first time we handled full end-to-end creative direction, from concept to layout, lighting to installation. It was Echevaria.co in its full form: deeply considered, deeply collaborative, and grounded in sustainable design from the inside out.

One of my favourite moments? Handcrafting my own bridal bouquet.

Far from showy or oversized. It was made with care, wrapped slowly, held with quiet joy. It reminded me exactly why I started this work in the first place, to create moments that hold meaning, not just beauty.

This day wasn’t just personal. It was a testament to what’s possible when we design with nature, not around it.

Sustainability doesn’t mean limitation. It means intention. It means letting the environment guide the design, rather than decorating over it. It means thinking about what happens after the wedding, not just what looks good in the moment.

And most of all, it means crafting spaces that feel alive.

Just like this one.
